I am a compassionate, understanding, and dedicated professional who has assisted hundreds of individuals to survive and grow with the daily challenges of work, life, and personal change management.

Through a collaborate, respectful and person-centred approach to counselling within a safe, supportive, non judgemental, and caring environment, individuals have been empowered to discover their potential and enrich their lives.

About Me

Therapy is a pathway to exploring one’s inner self, gaining perspective and awareness, rebuilding confidence and self esteem while developing healthier boundaries and personal wellness.

A Social Worker with over 22 years of experience counselling both individuals and couples focusing on relationship issues, work stress, grief/loss and trauma, family/conflict, career, and personal change. Extensive experience and skills in mental health issues related to ADHD, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder.

Using a variety of therapy modalities including Solution Focused and Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person centred, Strengths Based, Humanistic, Anti-oppressive approaches, Emotional Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness MBCT, individuals have moved forward to renew their lives.

As a sole support mother, community advocate, self employed counsellor/practitioner who has experienced life challenges, I am passionate and committed to identifying and promoting the personal strengths and resiliency in individuals, enhancing change and growth, and aiding in the achievements of one’s goals.

Background & Experience

In addition to a Masters degree in Social Work, I have a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from McMaster University.

I have operated a private counselling practice since 2008 in Hamilton. During this time, I worked as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Medicine, McMaster University teaching 1st year medical students to develop skills in the Professional Competency Program along with holding a position as a Mental Health Counsellor/Facilitator with the Hamilton Family Health Team. Prior to this experience, I was a Senior Program Coordinator/Social Worker and Career Counsellor within government, non-for-profit Adult Education and Social Service agencies. I have specialized training and certification in career related assessment tools. I have also worked as a Social Worker with Addiction Treatment Centres, Adolescent and Mental Health facilities and various Women’s Shelters.

As a trained/skilled Facilitator with over 20 years of experience with a vast array of knowledge and expertise, I have hosted workshops to groups in adult education, business and government sectors, and social service agencies in the areas of change, resiliency, work life balance, stress management, optimism, team building and employment planning.

I am a member of good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
